Holy Week 2025

April will not only bring spring flowers but also the celebration of major events in the life of Jesus – the last supper with his apostles, his passion, burial, and resurrection.

Palm Sunday (April 13)

The worship service at 11 a.m. includes the distribution of palm leaves and crosses.

Silent Wednesday (April 16)

There is no specific event connected with the fourth day of Holy Week. The Scripture is silent on this. At 12:30 p.m., during our regular Bible Study time, we will explore what it means to turn off the noise and spend silent time with God in meditative prayer.

Maundy Thursday (April 17)

Maundy Thursday is remembered as the day Jesus and his disciples met for the Last Supper.

The focus of the Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. will be The Lenten Sketches, a cantata by Joseph M. Martin, presented by the Chancel Choir. Vocal pieces describe the pivotal final days of Christ's earthly ministry: the triumphal entry, the Last Supper, the garden of Gethsemane, and the crucifixion. Each section is paired with the works of art that have depicted these events across the centuries.

The service includes the sacrament of Communion. At the conclusion of the service, lights are dimmed, the Chancel is stripped, and we depart in silence.

Good Friday (April 18)

The church will open at 11:50 for a short service and time of silent prayer. The church will remain open for prayer until 3 p.m.  Please join us as we remember our Savior's saving death.

Easter Sunday (April 20)

Resurrection Day will begin with a sunrise service at 6:45 a.m. at the church pavilion. We will gather (bring a lawn chair) for a brief, informal service. Coffee, juice, and doughnuts will be provided. At the conclusion of the service, the transformation of the cross with flowers will begin. Our celebration of the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior will begin with worship at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.
